| We're All Pinked Up!!! |
Today is National Anti-bullying Day here in Canada and we are all wearing pink to support the cause. I have three daughters and am probably on the over protective side when it comes to bullies. When my oldest daughter first attended school I wanted to do everything in my power to keep her safe from bullies. In the true spirit of anti-bullying I set out to intimidate the parents of the school bullies - bully the bullies as it were. After receiving a stern warning from the principal at my first Sports Day I realized I was going to have to learn to lighten up a little.
Seriously though, this issue strikes close to home with me. I have mentioned before that I believe that the strong should protect the weak. Big fish will always eat little fish - but we are not fish. We're Humans.
There are all kinds of physical and social inequities out there and as Humans we should be aiming towards creating an even playing field.
It is interesting what defines social and physical disadvantages. In high school being brainy and awkward was a reason to get picked on. Later in life these are the guys that get all the chicks. So here we are back at "The Edge of Perception". We all have strengths and weaknesses and in a perfect world we would all try to lean on those stronger in some areas and support those that are weaker in others.
I'm going to work on that :)
In addition to Anti-bullying, we wear pink to support Breast Cancer Survivors and Research .
In my house we are all Tough-Enough to Wear Pink.
In Honour of Pink Day please enjoy this video about tolerance.
I've Been Outsourced!!!
So have been really busy this last week or so. After a couple of months of checking out the Freelance Writing job boards and trying to get a handle of the opportunities I applied for a couple of Freelance contracts. I got work immediately and was happy about that. The money wasn't that great - in fact it's a little embarrassing what I'm working for - but its really not about the money right now, its about jumping in with both feet and Muddling my way through the painful early learning curves of a new endeavor and stumbling towards success and significance.
My bubble was burst a little when I received my first cheque from "New Delhi Marketing Inc".
Apparently I have been outsourced to India
It's kind of like me mowing down a dozen poplar trees in my backyard to get a better satellite signal (which I did) and buying a chopstick made from Canadian Poplar tress for $10 from Asia (which I have also done).
The good news is that since I am sitting at the absolute rock bottom of the industry there is no where go but up. In the mean time I won't quit my day job.
Respectfully, from the Edge

Starting at the bottom of anything is HARD, but if your tough enough to wear pink, you got this.
ReplyDeleteYa you bet Lacey thanks :)
DeleteAs ever, Sam Edge, your words are accurately relevant, and very helpful. I'm not color blind, though! You're wearing purple, not pink, in this photo. What AN ADORABLE photo of you and your sweethearts!! I hope, though, you'll post a photo of you and all your lovely ones wearing PINK! Ditto what Lacey wrote, "Starting at the bottom of anything is HARD, but if you're tough enough to wear pink, YOU GOT THIS!" (I love the color pink and don't know WHY masculinity is assigned blue and feminine... pink;)

"The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem." - Captain Jack Sparrow
“The solution in never the solution, the solution is always the attitude that preceded the solution.... Imagine - Feel - Experience - and practice the Attitudes of:
Love
Leadership
Joining, Connection
Respect,
Trust, confidence
Truth, honesty, vulnerability
Feel, feelings, feeling for
Lightness
and Inspiration.
We are human beings.
We can decide 'to be':
Trusting
Loving
Connected
Honest
Light
Feeling
Inspired
These are the solution to your problems.
These are an answer to your greatest requests.
Start with your Attitude first!"
